Davit Arm Solves Jobsite Safety Need

A Mid-Atlantic contractor was installing piping and pumps in a 30-ft deep wet well.  The contractor needed a safe way to lower equipment into the wet well and allow the crew the tools to complete the project, as the site would not have sufficient room to install scaffolding. The contractor called NTS to discuss the project and seek additional input on the best way to handle the job. A project review established that the wet well would be above grade and a man would need to work off a device to connect the upper pipes in the wet well. NTS suggested a Bosun Chair be used for the project as a potential solution to allow the worker to connect the piping. The contractor reviewed the specifications and operating information that NTS supplied for the device and decided that it met all the requirements needed for the project. NTS coordinated the delivery of the Bosun Chair and davit arm apparatus to the job site along with the manufacturer’s safe and proper installation recommendations to the contractor. The contractor was extremely pleased with the product as well as NTS’s ability to recommend a solution that the crew had not been previously exposed to and kept the crew safe as well as working productively.
