June 15–19, 2026 • Free to Participate • Open to All
The Trench Safety Stand Down is a NUCA industry-wide event held every June. For one week, companies across the country pause work to talk directly with their crews about trench and excavation hazards and the protective systems that prevent them. National Trench Safety is a proud sponsor, and we make it easy to hold a stand down on your jobsite.
Participation is free and open to everyone, and NUCA membership is not required. Every participating company receives a Certificate of Participation, and helmet stickers are mailed to individuals who take part.

Trench Safety by the Numbers
Most trench injuries and fatalities are preventable with the proper safety precautions, including designating a competent person to oversee all aspects of the excavation. A competent person must inspect the trench daily at minimum.
