Trench Safety Veteran Gary Martin Passes

Beaumont, T.X. — Gary Martin, part of the co-founding team of National Trench Safety, passed away on the morning of May 24th, 2018.

Mr. Martin was one of the co-founders that formed National Trench Safety in 2004. Gary led the opening of the Beaumont, Texas branch in 2004, which was the Company’s first expansion branch outside of Houston. Gary was instrumental to the growth of NTS throughout Texas and the establishment of the company’s current national and international footprint. Gary’s career in the construction industry began early working at Williams Brother Construction and Brown & Root, then at the Texas Department of Transportation and finally entering the trench safety industry in 1988 with the Plank Company.

Mr. Martin has been a longtime fixture in the construction and trench safety industry in Southeast Texas and has been actively involved in advancing the industry through his work and involvement with industry associations.

More so than the career accomplishments, Gary’s legacy will be the lives he touched, shaped and impacted. Gary was an avid car enthusiast, loved to fish and enjoyed riding his tractor and working on his property. Gary lived his life “wide open” and did it his way every day. His greatest love was his family and most especially the Joan Martin, the woman he had been married to for 45 years.

Gary is survived by his wife Joan, son Gary Martin Jr. and wife Shanna Martin, son Matthew “Matt” Martin, daughter Leigh Ann Sykes and husband Patrick and his 4 grandchildren: Kamrie Martin, Garrison Martin, Domenic Sykes and Annabella Sykes.
