Steel Plates Protect Indoor Arena Foundations
A sign company was awarded the installation of new scoreboards for a women’s basketball team on a large 12,000 seat indoor arena. The stadium had been built on cement foundations. The project required a protective system that could allow the mobility of several boom lifts on the court while protecting the integrity of the cement foundations. After reviewing several protective systems, the representative in charge selected steel plates for the project.
Steel plates have a multitude of uses depending on a particular project’s scope. Steel plates can be paired with underground protection devices and also used on highway projects. For this project, one hundred and twenty trench plates were reshaped and resized to fit the dimensions of the court. Overall the trench plates performed very well supporting the load from the boom trucks as the scoreboard signs were installed. The sign company representative was very impressed with the high level of protection and the versatility of the trench plates. NTS stocks a wide variety of sizes, thicknesses, and treated plates to meet a wide variety of applications such as this project.
